Got Thought?

IMPORTANT: We will NOT be hosting the Got Thought? workshop during the summer of 2014. Our hope is to resume the workshop the following summer. Feel free to look around and get a feel for what we do!

Got Thought? 2013 is a one week summer workshop in which high school seniors (and those just graduated) have an opportunity to investigate various topics in computer science. The workshop is not for college credit and does not require any specialized background in computer science. The workshop has only twelve slots for students. Applicants for the twelve slots will be selected based on the the merit of their application.

Why Apply?

Some reasons you might want want to participate in Got Thought? are:

  • The workshop is free! (for the first time since its inception!)
  • A scholarship to take a free Computer Science course at Hardin-Simmons is offered to students who complete the workshop. See the FAQs for the "fine print".
  • It provides an opportunity to investigate the discipline of computer science without investing the money or major time commitment of taking a university course.
  • You will meet and interact with students, faculty, staff, and administrators at Hardin-Simmons.
  • You will be exposed to methods of approaching problems that will be useful in college and throughout life.
  • Did somebody say "T-Shirt?!?"
  • It will be fun!(see photos from a previous year)

If you are a high school teacher and are willing to invest a week, then you can earn some money and have a chance to interact with some top-notch kids. There won't be much, if any, advance preparation required for you to help with the workshop. Your help, presence, and participation will help ensure a fun, yet challenging, learning environment.
